1. Laoniuwan Scenic Area

Laoniuwan scenic area is located in the northwest of Pianguan county at the junction of Shanxi and Inner Mongolia. This is the beginning of the Yellow River Grand Canyon between Shanxi and Shaanxi, also the starting point of the Yellow River flowing into Shanxi, and the meeting point of the Great Wall and the mother river, the Yellow River, that originated from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The scenic area includes 2 scenic spots: Laoniuwan and Qiankunwan, covering an area of 22.67 square kilometers. Here, utterly beautiful natural work and human buildings create a magnificent scenery. The Yellow River in the scenic area twists and turns, forming Laoniuwan and Qiankunwan two natural wonders, also there are so many wonderful classic attractions : tall beacon tower "Laoniuwan Dun", the outpost of Shanxi town in Ming Dynasty Laoniuwan Fort, "stone folk custom museum" Laoniuwan Ancient Village which is located on a whole natural stone slab, Laoniuwan Ancient Wharf, the Four Princess Benevolent Rule Stele and the time-honored brand Rongtaixiang and so on, Laoniuwan area rated as one of the top ten China's most beautiful canyons by National Geography of China.
